There are a lot of health benefits that come from eating and drinking soy. You will also want to add it to your diet in order to reduce risk of heart disease. You probably know that vegetarians eat soy instead of meat, but did you also know that consuming soy can lower your high cholesterol levels? Many doctors  recommend that you replace beef with soy in order to get the protein that your body needs.  Soy has also been shown to lower cholesterol.  The FDA has commented on the beneficial effects of soy and how it may reduce the risk of heart disease.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance that can clog the veins to your heart by producing plaque. This can eventually lead to a heart attack.  However, if you consume soy, you can reduce your cholesterol levels and avoid plaque build-up in your arteries. Eating soy can also reduce the risk of having a stroke or other cholesterol-related illness. Furthermore, the positive benefits you can receive from adding soy to your diet do not begin and end with reducing cholesterol. Women may discover that hormone imbalances during menopause are noticeably lessened. Soy can increase estrogen levels and help women who are going through menopause. This will reduce the discomforting signs of menopause like night sweats and hot flashes. In the same way, eating soy can also be a positive for men who are suffering from prostate cancer. Some studies also are showing promise for treating diabetes with soy products.

There are many ways to get soy into your diet. For example, instead of drinking cow’s milk, you can try soy milk on your cereal in the morning. You can also eat tofu hot dogs instead of meat hot dogs. If you visit your local health food store, you may be amazed to find how many meat substitute products there are that contain soy in the form of tofu. One other good way is to make Chinese stir-fry and use tofu in addition to the vegetables that you are eating. It’s a great and tasty combination that is very healthy for you.  And don’t forget to exercise as well so that you are giving your body all of the tools that it needs to stay health and strong.

If you are not familiar with consuming soy, then you may want to take a trip to your local health food store and just browse the shelves in order to learn more about this great product that is so good for you. There are also soy cookbooks available that will allow you to incorporate soy in the form of tofu into your diet. If you like Japanese food, then you can get soy by eating miso, which is a fermented paste made from soybeans. Japanese miso soup is a delicious way to get healthy soy into your diet.
